Los Piletones charity kitchen

We are a charity kitchen born in 1996 at the initiative of a family that lives in Villa Soldati. Margarita and Isidro, who know closely the needs of the most vulnerable.

We feed daily over 2700 people, from children of all ages to mothers, seniors and homeless people. We give breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner. The charity kitchen has been the origin of our foundation.

Sewing workshop

We make fabric covers in order to sell in the fairs, for example COAS, Expo ganadera, etc.

We make this workshops for women to have work. We also make notebooks covers and other things of exclusive design, you can check them out and buy them from the instagram @Gul.argentina

Center for victims of domestic violence Margarita Barrientos

The center for victims of domestic violence gives housing and assistance to women who have lived violent situations through a team formed by psychologists, social workers, lawyers and doctors. This is a secure and cared space with everything they need to receive a quality assistance for them and their children. We work shoulder to shoulder with the justice system and different public and private organisms to help end this affliction.

Health

“Angela Palmisano” health center

It offers medical care in several medical specialties; pediatrics, medical clinic, gynecology, nursing, obstetrics, psychology and there is also a community pharmacy, where patients can get their medicines for free only with the medical order. Professionals often give talks about sexual care, teenage pregnancy, addictions and early stimulation. Nowadays, the center receives around 800 patients per month. It constitutes an essential service for Los Piletones and the surrounding neighborhoods, not only by offering medical care but also taking actions towards the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

Dental care center

It is dedicated to covering the needs of the population regarding dental care, emphasizing on excellency and a personalized attention. For that purpose it counts with new equipment and highly prepared personnel, which gives the patients certainty in the diagnostics and the tranquility of receiving the proper treatment. We destroy the myth that going to de dentist is an uncomfortable practice. Thanks to the quality of our work, on top of being in a safe and trusting environment, which strictly respects all the salubrity regulations.

Subway wagon

We have an old wagon which used to be part of the subway network. Inside, there is room for 16 diners, but there are plans to extend its capacity with outside installations. Currently, it works as a restaurant, visited by tourists and neighbors, which serves autochthonous dishes. In the future, the wagon will also work as a space for health specialists to give talks about personal motivation, workshops for quitting cigarettes, etc. There will also be a space where job trainings are given to those who need it in order to be able to work and end their unemployment situation. On that matter, there are already workshops training people to be blacksmiths and hairdressers. Moreover, the space will also be used by several organizations and private companies for work meetings and talks about the companies’ social responsibility.

Education

“San Cayetano” kindergarten

The kindergarten has been recently renewed, with more space in the classrooms and all the amenities for children and their teachers. Every year 130 children begin their school year and they receive education and a proper nutrition. They also receive individual pediatric and psychological care, and the follow ups for them and their families. The classrooms are from 1 to 4 years old kids and there they receive all the necessary meals to help their learning skills and development. There is a library, bathrooms adapted to kids and an inside playground with games for the children to learn how to share.

Hydroponic garden

Cultivation without soil

A kid who suffers from poor nutrition is affected in his survival and the correct functioning and development of his body and his intellectual and cognitive capabilities. This results, with no doubts, into a very difficult future for him. In order to overcome this problem, we have developed a hydroponic garden destined to be part of the program “Nutrir”, a coordinated effort between other initiatives of the foundation, like the health center and de community kitchen, the bakery and the medical staff. We grow lettuce, tomatoes, etc. The hydroponics is free from chemicals and is used in “NFT” and “FIOATING” systems. It takes half the time than the traditional crops.

“Despertando sueños” orchestra

Integrated by children between the ages of 6 to 16 years old. Without a doubt we believe that the musical knowledge makes the kids closer to healthy cultural activities that stimulate their personal growth, improving their memory, attention and concentration. Our orchestra is composed by 40 violins, 2 double basses, 8 cellos and 6 violas. We have also given several shows, in the “Usina del Arte”, the “Teatro Colón” and many schools and patriotic acts, for instance.

Bakery and pasta Factory

We have prepared a beautiful lounge, conditioned and with new equipment for its use as bakery and pasta factory. Currently, we are using 70kg of flour daily for the production of bread and pasta. We also produce sweet bread, easter thread and puddings, which are given to every person that come to the community kitchen. We also teach neighbors who want to learn how to cook their own bread. We also support and encourage those families that see this as a work opportunity and want to make a living out of it.

Home and community kitchen “Isidro Antunez”

The center for grandmothers has 20 beds divided into four bedrooms, with all the amenities needed for them. They also receive four meals a day, daily medical follow up and three nurses to assist them at all time. The community kitchen gives breakfast, lunch and dinner for over 2000 people every day. There are also carpentry, welding and electricity workshops. We also offer support with food, water, clothes and school supplies to country schools, which are located in places with difficult access, and the families living there, without the possibility to get close to a town or accessing the basic elements to cover their needs.

“Nutrir” Program

A poorly nurtured child is four times more vulnerable to diseases and death than a healthy one. He will also suffer growth problems and poor school performance is to be expected. To help solve those problems, three years ago, in the Community Kitchen “Isidro Antunez”, the “Nutrir” Program was implemented. Destined to children up to 5 years old who, after being weighed and measured, receive the best nutrition plan for them. Particular donors help with the meals which are indicated by professionals after a pediatric diagnosis. When a problem is detected, a part of the team seeks to solve the child’s malnutrition while the other part works with the parents in strengthening the bond with the child and elaborating suitable nutrition strategies.
